Aasmita Association envisions the creation of a truly magnificent spiritual landmark — the Shri Chhattisgarheshwar Mahadev — a towering 63-foot Shiva Lingam carved entirely from precious Krishna Shila stone, to be located at the sacred site of Chourel in District Balod, Chhattisgarh.
This proposed structure would stand not only as a monument to the profound devotion of Chhattisgarh's people to Lord Shiva, but also as a testament to India's unbroken tradition of magnificent temple art and the enduring mastery of our stone carvers.
The vision is to create a place of pilgrimage, cultural pride and community gathering that will serve devotees and visitors for generations — a gift from the present to all of those who come after.
Please note: This project is currently in the planning stage. All specifications, design details and construction timelines are subject to finalisation upon completion of the required approvals and planning processes. This is a vision being actively worked towards, not a completed or confirmed project.

Krishna Shila (Black Stone) is a premium quality hard basalt or black granite known for its exceptional durability, smooth texture and ability to hold intricate detail over centuries. It has been the preferred medium for sacred sculptures in India's finest temples.
Krishna Shila structures have withstood centuries of weathering, monsoons and the test of time — making it the ideal material for a landmark intended to serve as a place of devotion for generations to come.
Black stone holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. The dark lustre of Krishna Shila is associated with the primordial nature of the divine — particularly befitting for a Shivaling, which represents the formless, infinite aspect of Lord Shiva.
As part of the project planning process, Aasmita Association has initiated preliminary discussions regarding the potential execution of this project with Dr. Arun Yogiraj, one of India's most celebrated contemporary sculptors.
Dr. Yogiraj is widely known for his extraordinary contribution to India's spiritual heritage — most notably the creation of the sacred idol of Shri Ram Lalla installed at the newly consecrated Ayodhya Ram Mandir — a work that has been deeply moved devotees across the nation.
Important Note: These discussions are at a preliminary and exploratory stage. No agreements, contracts or confirmed commitments have been made. Project specifications, scope, artistic direction and all commercial details will be formally determined and communicated only after all required approvals are in place and planning is complete.
The following represents the conceptual vision being developed. All details are subject to change upon finalisation.
The proposed structure envisions a traditional Shaivite temple complex design, incorporating classical Indian temple architecture principles from the Shilpa Shastra texts. The complex would include the central Shivling, a pradikshana path, and dedicated spaces for community gathering and prayer.
The carving of a 63-foot Shivling from a single or assembled block of Krishna Shila would require highly specialised stonecraft expertise, precision engineering support and an extended period of skilled artisan work. All methodological details will be determined in collaboration with qualified experts.
The proposed site at Chourel in District Balod, Chhattisgarh, has been identified for its spiritual significance and potential to become a centre of pilgrimage and cultural tourism in the region. Site surveys and feasibility assessments are part of the planning process.
Beyond the primary structure, the long-term vision includes a dharamshala, garden, visitor facilities and a cultural centre that would make the site a living hub of spiritual life, traditional arts and community service for the people of Chhattisgarh.
Indicative stages only — subject to approval timelines and planning outcomes.
